That's where Fairdale High School's Maurice Grinter plays and stars as a three sport standout in basketball, track, and football. Last year Grinter was a one man wrecking ship, starting as a quarterback before moving to running back in the middle of the season. After being moved to running back, Grinter ran for over 1200 yards in the final five games.
Miraculously, it is on defense where he might be best suited. Grinter needs just three interceptions to break the state record this up-coming season, and had an amazing nine picks last season.
It is still too early to see where he projects on the collegiate level, but his coach insists that he could possibly see time at wide reciever or running back at the next level depending on how well he plays this upcoming season.
Regardless, as is the situation with many kids Kentucky has been recruiting of late, it will be whether or not Grinter wants to play on the hardwood or the gridiron at the collegiate level.
Grinter has been a star basketball player for Fairdale this season and projects to be a decent collegiate prospect.
Kentucky is the lone school to offer a full scholarship at this time in football. Arkansas and Purdue appear set to offer soon, as does Louisville.
