Stewart continues hot streak

Stewart continues hot streak in leading Cats to 14-6 record.

Coach John Cohen had perhaps the biggest understatement of the year, when he commented on his senior outfielder Caleb Stewart's hot streak.

"Caleb Stewart is seeing it well right now. His stroke is very good and he has good people hitting around him to give him some protection."

Seeing it well has equated into Stewart's 18 game hitting streak. A hitting streak that includes a weekend series against Auburn that was outstanding.

Stewart single handidly carried the Kentucky offense, along side Freshmen sensation John Shelby. Stewart went 8-14, including spectacular games on Friday and Sunday in which Stewart went 4 for 5 and 3-5, totalling 4 runs and adding his team leading 6th homerun.

Stewart currently leads the Wildcats in every major hitting statistic: Runs, Hits, Doubles, Triples, Home Runs, RBI's, slugging percentage, and batting average.

In the word's of Dan Patrick, he has been "enfuego" for Cohen's Cats and the main reason why they sit at 14-6 on the year. His current stat line reads like a Ted Williams type month:

.414 Batting Average

36 Hits

6 Home Runs

20 RBI's

29 runs scored

The Cats hope Stewart can keep up his outstanding play this weekend against Florida. The Cats head home for a three game series in hopes of continuing its recent good play.
