Jamont is a 6'4" 210# wing guard from Nashville, TN (Glencliff HS). He is an extremely talented wing player. But he is not just an offensive player. He has had three games with over 20 rebounds.
He plans to play summer ball for Charlie Benson's Tennessee Travelers AAU team. That's good news for the Vols since Benson's son, Chuck, is a first-year member of Buzz Peterson's Big Orange staff and is already recruiting Gordon.
Strong and physical to smaller 2G makes Jamont a prized recruit. He is not only great offensively, but very efficient defensively. His size keeps players from driving by using his body and feet, and not his hands and arms.
The only areas of work for Jamont to improve on are to be a better passer (sometimes tries to make a great play instead of just waiting for the right play) and better passing lane defender.
''My plan is to come here to Tennessee,'' he told The Tennessean. ''I think that's what I'm probably going to do, but I'll still look at a few other schools. I still have some time but I think this is where I'll fit in best.''
Gordon leads Metro Nashville with a 28 points-per-game scoring average. He has had two 22-rebound games and is rated the No. 25 junior in America by one service. He recently had a 30-point, 22-rebound, 6-assist, 5-block game against McGavock.
There are a number of schools after Jamont with Tennessee leading Oklahoma, Memphis, Illinois, Louisville, Arkansas, Alabama and Kentucky.
Jamont is ranked 23 by the Geeks.
