Kentucky's Jared Lorenzen has been named National Player of the Week in an ESPN.com feature following his standout performance last Saturday at Vanderbilt.
Lorenzen, a sophomore quarterback from Ft. Thomas, Ky., completed 26 of 37 passes for 453 yards and six touchdowns with no interceptions in the Cats' 56-30 victory over the Commodores. He also had five carries for 32 yards, giving him 485 total yards on the day.
It marked Lorenzen's third straight 300-yard passing performance and the 11th of his career. It was his second time over the 400-yard plateau. He had a career-high 528 yards passing last year against Georgia. The six touchdown passes marked a new career high.
Lorenzen's average of 11.5 yards per play against Vandy set a new SEC record for league play.
