In-State battle for Fairdale's Grinter

Where will this three-sport star choose to attend college?

Fairdale High School has been a relatively quiet front as far as recruiting goes the past few years, but this year things have apparently picked up.

That's thanks to 2004 Mr. Football and Mr. Basketball candidate Maurice Grinter.

A three-sport star, who is also a track and field standout, is just three interceptions short of the state record for picks.

"There are few people who do as much for their team as Maurice does for Fairdale," Coach Mike Gossett said. "It is possible he could be our leading receiver, rusher, tackler, and interception leader next season."

Kentucky and Louisville have offered the 6 foot 3 senior to be, who managed to run for 1200 yards in just five games at the running back position.

The Louisville native, who is projected as a linebacker or safety in college, is also hearing from Purdue and Arkansas and a few others.

Gossett thinks it is just the beginning for Grinter. "The sky is the limit for this young man," Gossett said.
