Another Year for McCutchan?

The University of Kentucky athletic department is looking into trying to get starting center Matt McCutchan another year of eligibility.

After spending the 2000 season at the Naval Academy Preparatory school in Newport, Rhode Island, McCutchan enrolled at the Naval Academy in 2001. Though he dressed in 5 games as a freshmen, McCutchan never saw game action.

In 2002, McCutchan sat out the entire season with an injury, causing the Wildcat coaching staff and athletic director Mitch Barnhart to look into whether or not they can get a medical hardship for the former Naval officer, making him have sophomore eligibility this season and possibly having the opportunity to stay with the team for an additional year.

McCutchan, whom is currently the Wildcats starting center going into the Fall campaign, sat out the 2003 campaign because of NCAA transfer rules. He is currently listed as a junior in UK's spring roster.

No word on when an official announcement will come on the issue.
