Kentucky making up ground on McKinney

Central High School's James McKinney continues to garner offers from across the country. Kentucky has made up ground for the defensive line prospect of late. See his comments.

James McKinney is a top-notch defensive tackle prospect from Louisville (Ky.) Central High School. McKinney, now 6-3 and 275 pounds, currently has a slew of offers.

"I have 25 or 26 scholarship offers right now," said McKinney.

"I was committed to Michigan but I decided that I want to take some visits and open things up. They are still my leader but about a month ago I decided I should back off a little. I didn't want to scare away other teams and my mom wanted me to slow down so I make the right decision that I'm happy with. But I still love Michigan, the coaches and the atmosphere in Ann Arbor."

"I also like Notre Dame, Miami, Tennessee, Louisville, Kentucky, LSU and Oklahoma. They have all offered."

Over the next month or so McKinney plans on camping at Michigan and Notre Dame as well as attending the MSL/TheInsiders.com combine in Cincinnati later this month.

"I am unsure whether or not I will go to Michigan or Kentucky for camp."

Last year as a junior McKinney recorded 70 tackles, 9 sacks and 20 tackles for a loss. He also caught 14 passes for 290 yards and scored two touchdowns as a tight end.
