The Hottest Prospect in the State?

Perhaps no prospect in the state is a hotter commodity right now then Alfonso Smith, a cornerback prospect from Waggener High School in Louisville (Ky.)

The once unknown prospect among recruiting analysts, Alfonso Smith has recently seen his stock sky-rocket of late, since Kentucky offered him two weeks ago.

The senior-to-be scooped up offers from Eastern Kentucky and Miami of Ohio in the past 48 hours.

"Alfonso Smith received an official offer from Miami (OH) less than an hour ago," reported Coach Chris Wolfe in an email received this afternoon.

In addition to his offer from Eastern Kentucky, Smith also qualified for the state track meet in three events on Thursday.

Smith will be participating in the 100 meter, 200 meter, and as part of Waggeners' 4x 100 meter relay in the upcoming state track meets set for June 4th and 5th.

The meet will take place in Lexington.

According to his coach, Smith's best time of the year in the 100 meter was a blistering 10.83.

The recent recruiting attention could also be attributed to his 4.45 forty yard dash time he recorded at the May 3rd combine at Ballard High School. According to his coach, he was also recorded as a solid 180 pounds and a legitament 6'2.

Smith now has offers from Louisville, Kentucky, Eastern Kentucky, and Miami of Ohio. He is also recieving attention from Indiana.
