After camping at five schools in the month of June, Tyler Horne made it a point to take a rest and give everyone an update on his recruitment.
And he's not finished; the heady quarterback, whom finished last season 233/407 for 3,057 yards, 24 touchdown passes, and 12 interceptions, plans on taking in some more summer showcases.
"I am set to attend Georgia and Auburn next month. I know Georgia has a commitment from Joe Cox, but I still want to go and show them what I can do. Auburn has called, and I have heard they want to sign two quarterbacks this year, so we will see what happens there."
According to theInsiders.com's Southeast Recruiting guru Scott Kennedy, Horne is a solid quarterback prospect;
"Newnan plays in a wide-open spread passing offense and Horne is the perfect trigger man for what they do. First of all, when giving time to throw and set his feet, Horne can make all the throws and is very accurate. He is your prototype drop-back passer that also throws well when rolling right or left as they move their pocket. Horne has a solid arm who can throw with zip or touch. Horne shows good fundamentals, has a nice release and throws a great deep ball and fade pattern."
Horne is sitting on two offers right now from Ball State and Columbia. He is diligently working to add more options to his list of offers. Does he see that coming anytime soon?
"I get the impression that Ole Miss, Kentucky and Maryland may offer me very soon. A lot of schools are telling me they will be out to see me play this year too. So, some schools may hold offers until they see me play a game this season."
Coaches may circle an August 20th date versus LaGrange to get the best evaluation. Horne will play a defense that stars Tray Blackmon, Braxton Kelley, Travis Hart and many other talented UK and Southeastern recruits. The Granger defense helped lead LaGrange to a state title last season.
