One-on-One with Anthony Piccirilli

In June, Inside Kentucky brought to light one of the best kicking prospects of the future in Anthony Piccirilli from Pennsylvania. The senior-to-be has been very busy with the camp scene this summer, but managed to find some time to update us on his recruitment.

The Sebastian Janikowski clone has seen his stock rise of sort after a very busy summer schedule that has seen him scatter the globe in search of his first offer.

The Aliquippa (PA) native had 12 touchbacks and a punt average of 44.8 last season. He could very well be the next Glenn Pakulak for Kentucky.

Which camps have you attended this summer?

Anthony Piccirilli: I only attended 2 full camps at Pittsburgh and Penn State, others I attended were 1 day workout sessions or senior prospect days. Those were Notre Dame, WVU, Northwestern, Ohio State, Kentucky, Syracuse.

How did you feel you performed?

Anthony Piccirilli: I felt I kicked really well, as the month progressed and more and more camps went by my leg became fatigued, but overall I was extremely happy with my performances.

What else do you have planned this summer?

AP: July 24th I will either be at Missouri or the Big 33 Blue Chip Combine. July 31st I will be at Akron's Sr. Prospect Day. I also plan on taking at least an unofficial to Marshall with the possibility of other schools.

Who has offered?

AP: I have no offers yet, unfortunately kickers and punters seem to get those last scholarships, so we'll see what happens.

Who's recruiting you the hardest?

AP: There is no particular school that is recruiting me the hardest. Most programs want to see Sr. tape before they'll know about a scholarship.

What is your current Top 5?

AP: In no specific order -- Kentucky
Notre Dame
Ohio State

Who is recruiting you at Kentucky?

AP: Coach Dunn

What do you like about each school in your top 5?

AP --
Kentucky: Brings SEC football to the table, great facilities, and the coaching staff.
Notre Dame: Just so much tradition.
Ohio State: Complete football powerhouse.
Wvu- Program is on the rise, and is close to home.
Northwestern- Beautiful campus and great academics.

What are you looking for in your school of choice?

AP--Program prestige surrounded by a great coaching staff, strong fan support, academics, and campus setting.

Who did you grow up rooting for?

AP-- I just love college football and what it has to offer but I've never had a favorite team .

When can we expect a decision?

AP-- I think the recruiting process for most kickers and punters drags throughout their Sr. season. Hopefully when offers come in I can weigh out the options and have a decision shortly after my season, unless I receive an offer early from a school that I am really looking at. I would love to get this process over with as early as possible.
