In the early 90s, Kentucky had a strong recruiting connection with one of the top JUCO programs in the nation, City College of San Francisco. Players like George Harris, Reggie Rusk, Tremayne Martin and Marvin Love all followed the CCSF pipeline to productive careers with the Wildcats.
It seemed only natural that UK would be recruiting one of the school's top prospects this season, offensive lineman Travis McGee (6-3, 305), a former Hopkinsville standout, but that doesn't appear to be the case.
CCSF coach George Rush said McGee wants to be a Wildcat, but has not received any interest in return from the Cats, who, oddly, are facing major depth problems on the offensive line.
"He wants to go there," Rush said. "I called Kentucky because that was specifically the top school on his list, but I don't think they're interested. I don't think that's too smart on their part. The kid can play."
McGee has visited Mississippi State and received a scholarship offer. He also plans to visit Indiana, Ohio State and Cincinnati.
