Peach State Standout Waiting on Cats' Offer

With the Wildcats stockpiling offers at schools like LaGrange and Wheeler, quietly they have also made a name for themselves in Newnan (GA), home to one of the best linebackers in the state.

The Wildcats have made a nice prescense in the state of Georgia of late and with the summer about to wind down, might be looking to add another Peach state-standout to the list of offered athletes.

Enter Santez Mayes. At 6-foot-1, 240 pounds, Mayes certainly has the frame to garner major attention.

"I have written offers from Ball State and Jacksonville State so far and Minnesota, Alabama-Birmingham and Tulane have told me they have offers for me when I complete my summer school course. I also feel like Kentucky and Southern Miss may offer me soon," said Mayes.

"I am wide open," Santez stated, "but I do like Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisville, and Minnesota the most."

According to Santez, Clemson and Kentucky send the most letters. With both sending about four a week. He will unofficially visit Clemson when they take on Wake Forest in the home-opener

Mays had 98 tackles, 12 sacks, and 20 tackles-for-loss last season for Newnan High School in Newnan (GA). In the weight room, he puts up 350 lbs on the bench and squats 515 lbs.

Don't look for a decision in the near future from Mayes. He plans to wait until after his senior season before making his commitment.

Mayes carries a 2.7 GPA and has yet to take the SAT/ACT.
