UK Baseball Update: Cats Add Signee to '05 Class

The Kentucky Wildcat baseball team has added another signee to their recruiting class of 2005 and he is a dandy of an addition. Get the latest on the newest addition as well as the current state of the Wildcat Baseball Recruiting Class.

Inside Kentucky has learned that the Wildcats have received yet another addition to the class of 2005, as Shaun Lehmann, a first team All-TBR/TJCCAA selection has signed with Coach Cohen and the University of Kentucky. Lehmann will replace graduating senior Joe Naill at shortstop.

The Dyersburg State star led the entire TJCCAA in hitting this past season; batting .470 with 6 home runs and 41 RBI's in 46 games at shortstop.

He is Cohen's 18th signing to the class of 2005. UK has only officially announced the names of 14.

Caleb Stewart Signs With New York
Former Wildcat Caleb Stewart signed a contract with the New York Mets. The former Kentucky standout was a 22nd round pick by the Mets.

"Caleb Stewart is a young man who is capable of really sneaking up on people in professional baseball," Cohen said. "He has a physical body that, once it develops, can really make him a great baseball player. I'm so happy that he is getting this opportunity because he's been a great player for us here at the University of Kentucky and he deserves this chance."

Wildcats Lose Three, One Pending
Kentucky has lost three signees from the Class of 2005 as Boodle Clark, Bill Killian, and Steve Delabar have all signed major league contracts to respective teams. Clark, whom was not even drafted by the Indians, signed as a free agent. The former high school star wasted his college eligibility. Killian and Delabar's signings were expected, as both were high draft picks.

The biggest key will be what happens with Andrew Albers. Albers, whom was one of the biggest signings by Cohen, was drafted in round 12 by the Milwaukee Brewers but has not come to terms with the club. Neither has Lexington native Willie Mays from Bryan Station. Mays was a 49th round selection by the Phillies.
