LEXINGTON, Ky. --- Kentucky picked up its 11th verbal commitment for the 2002 football recruting class this weekend as Louisville Moore's Monquantae Gibson added his name to the Cats' list.
The all-state running back was one of 17 recruits to make an official visit to Kentucky this past weekend. He picked the Cats over Auburn, Mississippi State, LSU and Miami (Ohio).
Gibson (6-1, 190, 4.4) led the state with 2,756 yards and 43 touchdowns as a senior. One of six finalists for the Mr. Football award, his most memorable game was a record-setting 574-yard effort against Louisville Shawnee, a feat accomplished on only 25 carries.
He finished his prep career with 6,741 yards and 97 touchdowns.
Gibson is the ninth in-state player to give the Cats a commitment. He joins the following players as verbals:
