The number one player in Maryland also happens to be the number one prospect in the entire nation. Derrick Williams (left) leads a strong contingent this season in TheInsiders.com Maryland Top 20. "Maryland produces top talent every year, and this year is no exception headlined by the nation's top prospect in Derrick Williams," said Miller Safrit, East Recruiting Analyst for TheInsiders.com. "The do-it-all athlete from Eleanor Roosevelt High School, which was the home for the top player in Maryland/D.C. last year in Florida freshman Derrick Harvey, simply dominates at the high school level with his speed, surprising power, and overall attitude towards the game.
"Rico McCoy is a tremendous middle linebacker with great movement from sideline to sideline each play, but his ball-hawking attitude is what sets him apart from the rest."
It is the year of the big men in the state of James McKinney (right) at defensive tackle and Corey Zirbel on the offensive line headline the Class of 2005. McKinney is a mobile big man that will grow into a linemen after playing tight end and defensive end in high school. Having that size and quickness is what makes him the top prospect in the state. Corey Zirbel is an offensive line prospect that has been dominant through his prep career and he has the frame at 6-7 and 292 pounds to be an early contributor on the next level."
Coming on Thursday, Louisiana, West Virginia and Utah.
