Three UK freshmen arrested, charged with arson

Three UK freshmen face arson charges...

LEXINGTON, Ky. --- Three freshman football players have been suspended indefinitely following their arrests in connection with a dorm fire Tuesday on the University of Kentucky campus.

Ben Scott, Brett Hamblen and Jeremy Darveau were lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center and charged with arson after two small fires caused minor smoke damage to Kirwan I. Fire investigators said the fires were set in a trash can and on a bulletin board, causing the dormitory to be evacuated.

UK officials consider the matter serious and say the people responsible will be prosecuted.

"We are aware of the situation," UK coach Guy Morriss said in a press release. "They have been suspended indefinitely from team activities, pending the outcome of the investigation."

All three players were redshirted this season. Hamblen, a safety, and Scott, a defensive end, were teammates from Ft. Thomas Highlands. Darveau, an offensive tackle, is a native of Hilton Head, S.C.
