Brandon Logan is a quick, athletic linebacker who likens himself somewhat to a couple of standouts from last season that are now in the NFL. "From last year – DJ Williams and Vilma from Miami. I'm about the same size as him [Vilma]." How would he describe his style of play? "I just fly to the ball." Sounds like the familiar refrain that our own Coach Strong preaches to his troops.
Being a highly rated recruited obviously means that many people feel Brandon is an excellent player. But, greatness is only achieved with hard work. With that in mind we questioned Brandon on what he felt he needed to work on to improve his skills as a linebacker. "Technique to get faster. I wanted to do some speed camps but I had a hamstring problem. There's always something - vertical…mostly lateral movement."
Many young stars are very interested in early opportunities with the program they may select. Is early playing time an issue for Brandon? "It depends on me. If I perform well or not."
For sometime now, Brandon has had the same six schools on his list and we asked him to speak on each a little.
Kentucky: "They've been struggling with probation. Coach Brooks is great."
Louisville: "They are a growing program. Coach Petrino is doing well."
Tennessee: "Winning program. They're a huge powerhouse."
Michigan: "I have had a good relationship with the coaches for a long time. (UM recruited Brandon's older brother, John) It's a great place to play.
Clemson: "Great atmosphere. I don't really know much about them. Lots of potential."
Florida: "They were one of my favorites growing up. They have a winning tradition."
Now that the season is well underway, we were curious to know if Brandon had made any decisions on his official visits. "I'm going to take a couple during the season and several after."
Does Brandon keep up with any guys playing college ball right now? "Chris Barclay at Wake Forest and Justin Miller at Clemson. I just keep up with how they are doing. I don't really know too many people." Brandon also told us that he is graduating on time and should be qualified with his last test score.
Logan is a very solid linebacker with good speed and vision. He covers the pass well and defends the edges well also. He runs out every play and gives 100%. He hits hard and is a sure tackler. All in all, a he provides good security to a linebacking corps. Michigan appears to be his leader, but he will wait for his season to play out before deciding anything. He's one to keep an eye on.
