Carolina back remains "wide open"

Four-star tailback Mike Davis of Columbia (S.C.) High School has been one of the most unreadable prospects in the 2005 class.

While most uncommitted prospects own a solid top five, the 5-foot-10, 205-pounder has remained completely wide open throughout his recruitment.

The past two weekends Davis had some free time and decided to take both in-state schools up on their offers to unofficially visit their respective campuses.

"I went to South Carolina two weeks ago and Clemson [this past] Saturday," explained Davis. "I had time and I just wanted to go. I wanted to check out the schools."

Even with a few unofficial visits under his belt, Davis maintains his openness, but plans to schedule his five official visits in about a month.

"I'm starting to look into visits, but I don't know where yet," stated Davis. "It's hard to pick. I should know [where I will officially visit] in November."

The only sure bet with Davis is that he will continue to dominate his opponents on the prep circuit. While leading his high school to a 6-2 record, Davis has complied over 1,300 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground.
