'Cats pursue speedy New Jersey linebacker

When Dwayne Jarrett left the New Brunswick (N.J.) high school football team for the jet set at USC, he didn't take all the talent with him.

New Brunswick has three players with Division I offers, including running back/safety Andre Dixon (6-2, 200, 4.4). Dixon has offers from Illinois, Connecticut, Kentucky, Temple, and North Carolina.

Dixon recently has set his first official visit.

" (12/10) I will be taking an official visit to Connecticut," said Dixon

Several other schools have been calling the Dixon house, so more offers could be coming soon.

"I have been getting calls from Boston College, Penn State, Rutgers, Iowa, Alabama, Nebraska, and Syracuse."

Dixon has carried 41 times this season for 500 yards and nine touchdowns. He was named first team all-area as a junior when he rushed for 900 yards and 13 touchdowns on only 77 carries.

Dixon attended Connecticut's camp this summer. He has interest in all the schools that have made offers, but two stand out.

"I'd say right now I like Connecticut the most,"he said, "followed by North Carolina."
