The 6-foot-7 Manchester (Ga.) High standout confirmed the news Monday evening. "I'm going to sign [on Wednesday]," Barber said. "It's Auburn."
Barber is ranked the No. 31 prospect in America according to Scout.com. He's a 215 pound rebounding machine who averaged 14 points a game last year as a junior.
During the June NBAPA Camp in Richmond, Barber injured his left hand and it was later determined that he broke a bone in the hand. The injury kept him out of action for the remainder of the summer and thus he wasn't able to capitalize on the momentum he had built during the week of NBA Camp.
Barber is expected to be a key recruit in the rebuilding process at Auburn because of his tenacity. He's been compared to fellow Georgian Donnell Harvey in terms of his style of play. He's an explosive athlete who works best in and around the rim and he's going to get plenty of chances early during his career under Lebo.
Auburn will sign at least 4 players on Wednesday, including the No. 9 power forward in Barber and the No. 14 power forward in the country in Leeds High standout Joey Cameron.
