RECRUITING: Garr holding steady with three offers

Despite his season coming an end sooner than expected, Male (KY) High School's Stephen Garr isn't in a hurry to make a decision on his college destination.

Heading into the 2004 high school season Stephen Garr and his Male High School squad were one of the favorites for the Class AAAA title, but an unexpected 26-20 loss at North Hardin last weekend ended the Bulldogs hopes for another year.

For Garr, it also meant an end to a successful high school career.

"It had to end sometime," said Garr. "I just wish it didn't come like this, but now I'll just concentrate on working out in the weight room and getting ready to play on the next level."

The next level for the 6-foot-3, 200-pound DB/WR prospect could come at a number of schools, including the three that have offered.

"Right now I have offers from Louisville, Western Kentucky and Indiana," Garr said. "I'm also hearing from Northwestern and Notre Dame."

According to Garr, Coach Greg Nord from Louisville and an assistant from Northwestern called on Tuesday, but even with offers from area programs, he's in no hurry to rush to a decision.

"I'm not leaning anywhere right now," explained Garr. "I'm just going to take my time before deciding."

So, does Garr have an opinion on just who might win the Class AAAA title?

"St.X should win it all now," Garr said. "There's nobody that can stop them now. I don't see how North Hardin can beat them this weekend. They'll probably win it."
