RECRUITING: Georgia product to visit Kentucky

Michael Gates is a good looking prospect from Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone, GA. He names a top 7 with a leader.

"I like Mississippi State, Kentucky, Troy State, Georgia Tech, East Carolina, Ohio and Hofstra. I have offers from all those schools except Hofstra and Georgia Tech," Michael Gates said.

Who leads for Gates currently?

"I'd have to say right now that Mississippi State leads right now, but Georgia Tech is a close second."

Why are the Bulldogs and Jackets and front?

"I really like the MSU program and the letters they sent me. The coaches I talked to gave me a good feeling. As for Georgia Tech, I've been to two of their games and I like their team and the excitement. Two of my teammates from last year go there also."

What does Gates like about the other schools on his list?

UK: "They send me lots of stuff and they have big crowds."

TSU: "I've heard it's a good program."

ECU: "I don't know too much about them yet."

OHIO: "I have family up there and they tell me it's a good school."

HOFSTRA: "My brother and sister are from the Long Island area and they say it's a great school. I'm originally from New York also."

What is he looking for most in a school?

"I'm looking for the best education I can get really. I want to come out and be able to get a job or take it to the next level with football."

How are his grades shaping up right now?

"I have a 3.2 GPA and I'm waiting on both my ACT and SAT scores."

Gates knows 4 schools that will likely receive officials.

"I haven't set any official visits, but I know Mississippi State, Kentucky, Troy State and possibly Hofstra will get visits."

Sandy Creek lost last Friday, but Gates had a stellar performance.

"We lost last Friday to Griffin but I had 10 receptions, 2 touchdowns, and about 100yds."
