"(Kentucky) stopped by to see me on Sunday," 6-foot-2, 195 pound Alfonso Smith told Inside Kentucky. "They just basically talked to me about my official visit on the 10th and what we would be doing. They said they are real excited about showing me around."
Among the many topics of discussion that Alfonso recalls was this past weekend's heartbreaking loss to Tennessee.
"They also talked to me about the game against Tennessee and how they really needed a running back that had breakaway speed and also someone who could make things happen," Smith stated. "They think I am that type of player and that they needed me."
The Kentucky Wildcat coaching staff also talked about the offensive coordinator position that just recently opened up.
"They also talked a lot about the offensive coordinator," Smith continued. "They said Joker might be the next offensive coordinator and that really excited me."
Asked what his thoughts would be if the 'Cats chose Joker Phillips as offensive coordinator, Smith said: "I would really want that cause I really like Joker and I think he would be a great coach to play for."
Kentucky wasn't the only school to make a final push. Boston College came by Wagganer High School today to talk with Alfonso, as well.
"Yeah, Coach Horton came by my school today," Smith stated. "He's a real cool guy and real down to earth. They are recruiting me as a running back, too. They say I can play a lot of different positions though because I am very blessed and could play anywhere on the field. Running back is the place they want me now, though."
Decision time is approaching as Alfonso re-interrated what he stated in his previous update with Inside Kentucky.
"I will probably commit after my visit (to Kentucky)," Smith said. "If Kentucky really impresses me, I'll commit to them, there."
