Coleman, who stands 5'11 and weighs 180 pounds, projects as a corner on the next level. Blessed with terrific speed (4.38 40-yard dash) and agility, the talented athlete has already landed a host of scholarship offers.
"Recruiting's starting to pick up," Coleman said. "I've got offers on the table from NC State, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Purdue, Kentucky, Marshall, and some others.
"I'm just ready to take my visits, and after those I'm going to make my decision."
Two programs that just entered the picture are North Carolina and NC State. The two ACC schools offered after watching his senior film, and they figure to be major players in Coleman's recruitment.
"NC State and North Carolina came in the picture not too long ago," he said. "They saw my film, and we started talking. Things have just taken off from there."
This weekend Coleman will take his first official visit, as he heads to NC State.
"I'm going to NC State this weekend," he said. "I'm going to North Carolina on the 21st of January and Minnesota on the 17th [of December]. I have one set up with Kentucky on the 9th of January, but I don't know if I'll take that one. I still have to set up ones with Purdue and Wisconsin."
Coleman and teammate Richie Rich both are considering nearly the same programs. Will they attend the same college?
"Yes, we're looking at the same schools, but I don't know if we'll sign with the same one," Coleman said. "We're going to NC State together this weekend though."
NC State has the first chance to impress both prospects this weekend, and Coleman likes what he's been hearing from the Wolfpack.
"They have some spots they want to fill at the corner position and that works to my advantage," he said. "I'll get a chance to come in and play if I went there. They also said they are going to give me a chance to do kickoff returns.
"I'm just going to go up there and check it out. I want to see the relationship between the coaches and the players."
Does Coleman have a leader?
"I'm wide open," he said. "I just want to take all my visits and see what's out there."
