RECRUITING: Blake Boyd opening things up?

Michael Donoghue wasn't the only Louisville commitment scheduled to make an appearence over the weekend in Lexington. Madisonville's Blake Boyd had scheduled an official visit to the Cats and is willing to listen to what they have to say.

"Coach Brooks and Coach Gray came by the house on Monday," Randy Boyd, father of Blake Boyd told Inside Kentucky late Monday night. "The coaches talked about how much they were wanting him to come for an official visit over the weekend and he was invited."

"He was really looking forward to the visit," the elder Boyd explained. "But I had some work engagements in Tennessee, so I couldn't make it, so we had to re-schedule the visit. We called Coach Gray and he's re-scheduling us for January."

Prior to making his commitment to Louisville, Boyd had scholarship offers from Marshall and South Carolina.

"He verballed to Louisville, way back when," Boyd explained. "But you see, back then he didn't have an offer from UK. He had some good schools after him - Marshall and South Carolina - but no UK. Then he goes and verbally commits to Louisville and then couple months later UK offers."

The Madisonville native played quarterback and defensive end this past season and projects as a strong side defensive end in college.

"He doesn't say much about it. But we always tell him to explore all your options. If you think - look."

Asked if the scheduling of the visit means he's open to Kentucky: "I can't answer that question right now, you'll have to ask him. Ultimately it's his decision, but I will tell ya, we've always been UK fans and have always been strong supporters of Kentucky."

Boyd added that his son does have a visit scheduled to Louisville in January, as well.
