One of the Lone Star State's Top 100 players said his weekend trip to Kentucky made a favorable impression.
Chris Hudler, a 6-foot-3, 270-pound end from Mesquite, Texas, came close to committing to the Cats, but still has two visits left to make.
"I'm going to visit West Virginia and SMU before I make my final decision," he said, "but Kentucky was real nice. I really liked the facilities and what they have to offer. I also got to meet a bunch of guys from Texas. I felt like I fit in well."
He has also been considering Houston and UTEP.
Hudler is being recruited by UK assistant coach Larry Hoefer. He says may get a look at both offense and defense, depending on where he fits in best when he begins practicing.
As a defensive end, he recorded 70 tackles last year. Offensively, he was primarily a blocking end. He caught one pass for 13 yards, a touchdown.
