IK Thanks Coach Sparks

The magazine and website of Inside Kentucky reaches over 1.7 million households per month. In October of 2004, our magazine sold out all over the state of Kentucky.

People all over the country talk about being basketball fans; we hear it everyday on our website about the great fans of North Carolina, Kansas, Indiana, and others. However, we know that the greatest and most knowledgeable fans are University of Kentucky Wildcat fans. With the help of Mr. Dean Rowe, we decided back in August to feature what we thought was going to be a very special Wildcat this year. Dean put together and authored a tremendous article for us about this young man, his family and some of the tradition of basketball in Muhlenberg County.

Inside Kentucky is growing at a very rapid pace and at a pace we did not expect. Our business is to not only provide informative and accurate information about UK and their athletic programs, but to also sell magazines and subscriptions. We decided in August to feature the young man that we thought should have been Mr. Basketball in Kentucky a few years ago and who is now the starting shooting guard for the University of Kentucky, Patrick Sparks. This cover and article has propelled our sales in the last 2 ½ months. In Muhlenberg County alone, we sold over 1500 copies of the magazine in October.

In appreciation for the support that we have received from the county and from Muhlenberg North High School, we presented Coach Sparks with a framed version of our October magazine and the fantastic article that was written by Dean Rowe. It is our hope that come April 2005 we have Patrick Sparks on the cover of another issue of Inside Kentucky holding a National Championship trophy.
