UK-CU: Locker Room Report

Respective players comment on the game Wednesday night.

#13 Bobby Perry
On what the team gets out of a game as a favorite…
"We come into every game the same way. We are looking to improve. It's not all about our opponents it's about ourselves. We try to improve for ourselves and the team. We are trying to improve as we go into conference play."

On working on fundamentals…
"Basketball is a tough sport to play. You have to be smart, you have to be fundamental and do the right things. You have to execute every play and do things correctly every time down the court."

On it being hard to come back after having four days off…
"No it wasn't. I think everybody went to gym and ran some when they were at home. We didn't look too bad out there. I don't get out of shape in four days. I don't think that is long enough. When I was at home I shot a little bit to try to keep my form in tact. Everybody looked pretty good yesterday."

On being hungry to get back…
"After a win at Louisville and a good win against William & Mary we are anxious to get on floor and keep competing the way we have been."

#5 Josh Carrier
On getting tired of the less competitive games…
"You can't get tired of games. You have to look forward to games. We go at each other in practice everyday that is what gets old. After going at each other so hard we look forward to any opportunity to play somebody else. It does not matter who it is as long as the type of competition is somebody different. It's just like a test in school you have to go out and perform no matter who it is."

On Coach (Smith) getting more upset over less competitive games…
"A game is a game to Coach. He is going to grade you like he is against anyone. You have to go out and play well no matter who it is. Campbell is our next game and that is how we look at it."

On Coach (Smith) wanting the younger guys to get a more serious attitude…
"It's the second half of season, the start of SEC play. We are trying to get momentum going into tournament play. Everyone needs to have a serious mindset and a serious mood going into these games."

#21 Shagari Alleyne
On the fun factor in recent games …
"These types of games are fun because you get to do some things on the court when you get a big lead that you can't normally do. We have to come through with fundamentals every game, though. That's the basis of every game and we can't forget that no matter who we're playing."

On what there is to learn from these games …
"We can work on things we need to do to get better as a team and stress our fundamentals. Personally, I think I need to work on being in the right area for rebounding and blocking shots. If I can get better in those areas, I think I'll be alright."

On Coach Smith's intensity…
"Coach Smith is intense every game and that teaches us to stay focused and humble. We don't look ahead to the next opponent and we take every game as if it's our last. We'll be focused on Campbell tomorrow night."

On practice …
"We've done lots of rebounding drills and the coaches have really emphasized crashing the boards so we can get out on a break and do what we do on offense. We've gradually become a better rebounding team and I think by the end of the season, we can be a great rebounding team."

On what can be improved from the Wiliam & Mary game …
"We need to improve on rebounding and communicating on defense. There were many times in the last game where we were still effective, but we didn't communicate well. That exposed a weakness and it's something we need to work on as a team."

#2 Ravi Moss
On Campbell …
"We need to stay focused and come out and concentrate on playing our best game and not worry about who we're playing. We have to focus on what we need to do to get better. No matter who we play, we need to go out and execute our game plan. We have to play the way we know how and not worry about the level of our competition."

"It was great to go home and relax with our families and be away from basketball for a while. We want to go out and execute the offense, play strong defense, pass the ball well and become a better team."

On practice…
"We've been working on rebounding a lot. Rebounding is about a lot of effort and the best way to get points is to get an offensive rebound and get some easy buckets."
