UK-CU: Robbie Laing Quotes

Campbell's coach speaks out on UK ...

On the loss…

"Unfortunately, there are two halves in college basketball, and we do have to acknowledge the first half. We played a great basketball team tonight, there's no denying that. They are very capable of playing extremely intense defense and they did. They simply did not let us see the basket. It was probably in the single digits, minute-wise, before we got a clean look at the basket. It wasn't that we were off tonight. They made us miss, it's plain and simple. On the other end of the floor, we allowed them some opportunities. We were overmatched in the interior. When we did make them miss, we allowed put-backs. That's not a good combination."

On Kentucky's interior play…

"We got caught behind several times in the rotation. We tried to double the post down there, and we did, but the rotation from the perimeter wasn't exactly how we needed it to be. They got some blocked passes on us and put in some easy shots. Once we eventually did get our rotation down, we were a lit bit more effective. We tried a variety of ways to try to stop their interior play. We tried zone and tried to double out of the man-to-man. We even tried to drop off of their point guard a little bit and tried to get him to come to the post with Anthony Atkinson, hoping (Rajon) Rondo wouldn't hurt us with the outside jumper. So, we tried a multitude of ways, but I'm just afraid we were outclassed."

On the insertion of Dominique Klein into the starting lineup for Comerlee Poole…

"Dominique (Klein) was inserted into the lineup because he has played with more energy than anybody on our basketball team the last couple of weeks. He has rebounded the ball extremely well, and that's a point of emphasis. (Comerlee) Poole had not rebounded, whereas earlier in the year, he had rebounded extremely well. He was leading our league in rebounding. In the last two weeks, he went the other direction. He rested on his laurels, so to speak."
