RB Says 'Cats Back in the Picture

The Wildcats continue to search for a running back in the Class of 2005 and one kid that keeps emerging is Brandyn Young, a talented back from Tucker (Ga.)

The following information was revealed during our interview with Brandyn Young:

What is your current height, weight, and forty time? "I am 5' 11", 185, and I run a 4.4."

Current bench press and squat? "315 (bench) and 385 (squat)."

What are your strengths at running back? "My speed along with my power. I am fast, but I am a north/south runner. I do not do all of that juking. I am always going forward."

What are you working on for the next level? "Everything, but probably the most important thing is my pass protection. Everything else is probably the same."

What were your stats from the 2004 season? "I had 1,012 yards and 16 TD's with 157 carries."

Any awards? "I was named All-County, and I was selected to the GA All-Star game (North/South), but I did not play in it."

Have you set up your official visits? "Right now, I am going to South Carolina on January 7th, and I am now going to Maryland instead of Ole Miss on the 14th."

Why did you move your Ole Miss visit? "With their head coaching change, I thought it would be best to postpone the visit. I did not want to visit them without a head coach. Now that they have one, I will probably set something up during the Christmas break."

Has Ole Miss contacted you since the change? "Coach Luke came to my school the week before. He told me he was going to call to set up the date. He did, because I saw it on caller ID, but we have not made contact yet."

Who else are you considering right now? "I am talking to, but not sure I will visit, Vandy, Kentucky, North Carolina, Marshall, Louisville, Mississippi State, and Georgia Tech."

Which colleges have had an inhome visit with you? "Ole Miss, Marshall, MSU, North Carolina, Louisville, Kentucky, South Carolina, Vandy, and that is about it. Maryland too."

Do each of these schools have an offer on the table for you? "Yes sir."

What will you be looking for, when it comes decision time? "Probably, most important, is their depth chart. The education part will be important too. That is why I have Vandy real high. I can still be successful without going to the league if I have a Vandy degree. But most important with be their depth chart, then I would say their education, then distance. I want to go somewhere where my family can travel back and forth from the games."

Brandyn carries a 3.0 GPA and an 18 on the ACT.
