"UConn and Marshall have entered the picture," Michael Gates said. "They both offered scholarships. I am pretty much very open to any school so I am considering them right now. I'm looking into making a visit to both."
Gates, at 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds is highly regarded at tighte end and offensive tackle.
"I've got a visit to Kentucky on the 7th of January," the multi-talented and humble Gates said. "I'm real excited about my visit cause it's my first visit and I'm looking forward to seeing the campus and the school. Kentucky's one of my top choices and I'm just looking forward to finally getting up there to see it."
The Wildcats are one of three teams that Gates is highly considering at this point; Ole Miss and Mississippi State being the other two. Gates says he'll give all three a chance to host him on an official visit.
"Ole Miss says that I have a good chance of starting my first year or at least playing second string," Gates said of the Rebels. "There new coach has got a lot of energy and he's seems really positive."
"Mississippi State says I can come in and start right away if I work hard. They say that I can really make an impact on their program."
Gates is projected as an offensive tackle, but is said to have been mostly recruited as a tight end at the next level by the vast majority.
"Kentucky thinks that I will grow into a tackle," Gates said. "Ole Miss and Mississippi State are talking about tight end."
Asked if that will play a role in his decision: "Not really cause I like all three," Gates concluded. "In the end, I just want what is best for me and the best possible situation for me."
