Wildcats Holding Strong for Top RB

Despite rumors to the contrary, top Wildcat running back prospect Mike Davis is still very much wide open and does not have any leaders - or so he says in his latest update.

"The Clemson coaches were here to see me today," Davis told Inside Kentucky. "I had a good visit, but so far all of the visits I've received from coaches have gone good."

When asked where Kentucky stood on his list, Davis responded, "Kentucky's in real good shape. They are still in there with Clemson, South Carolina and Maryland. I wouldn't call anybody the leader, anymore though."

The four star running back from Columbia (SC) will get his first chance to talk to Coach Steve Spurrier and the Gamecocks this weekend, when he officially visits South Carolina. "I still have Maryland left, too."

On what he liked about Kentucky, "They need a running back real bad and they've been with me from the start. On my official visit, they made me feel at home and really showed me a lot."

One of the main reasons why the Wildcats have stayed so close to the top is UK's offensive coordinator, Joker Phillips.

"He's just a great man, ya know. It's hard to find someone I feel so comfortable with, but I feel really comfortable with Coach Phillips. My family and I really like him a lot."

Asked if that meant the Wildcats would have an advantage down the stretch; "No, not necessarily. It's basically down to USC, Clemson, Kentucky and Maryland. I don't plan on announcing my decision until signing day."
