Kentucky started the meet with men's and women's wins in the 400-medley relay. Sophomore Eric Weber claimed the 1000 freestyle before junior Steven Manley automatically qualified for the NCAA championships with a time of 1:36.05 in the 200freestyle. Freshman Jenny Bradford picked up a win in the 50 freestyle, and senior Tim Patrick swam a season-best time of 19.96 in the event.
Freshmen Lindsay Myhre and Kristian Outinen captured the 200 individual-medley events, and sophomore Joey Brown and freshman Ben Starchuk took the one-meter diving events. Kentucky added sweeps of the 200 butterfly events from senior Daniel Cruz and junior Laura Graham, while freshman Heather Bradford and junior Daniel Farnham contributed a sweep of the 100 freestyle events. Junior Brennan Moore and senior Jerram Chudleigh each took the 200 backstroke, and senior Caitlin Muldoon and freshman Grant Nelson won the 500 freestyle events. Junior Jessica Thompson won the three-meter diving event, as did Starchuk for the UK men. Junior Shantel Commander added an NCAA "B" cut time of 2:17.06 in the 200 breaststroke, and freshman Will Vietti also chipped in a 200-breaststroke victory. Kentucky finished the meet with victories in the 400-freestyle relays.
The Kentucky diving corps heads to the SEC Championships next week in Gainesville, Fla., and the swim squads will follow the divers to Gainesville a week later.
