You Have to See it to Believe It

Some things must be seen to be believed, like a 6-2 and 275 pound running back has the footwork to make defenders miss and the power to drag them down field. Micah Johnson of Fort Campbell Kentucky is one of those players that must be seen to be believed. See him in action in this presentation by ScoutTV.

Micah Johnson stars at Fort Campbell High School in Fort Valley, Kentucky, and he is one of the most physically gifted big men in the country. He turned in a sub 5.0 forty at the US Army Combine in San Antonio which is quick enough to play middle linebacker, but when I

Micah Johnson
saw him, I had him pegged for defensive tackle right away.

He has the type of athleticism that if he wants to play linebacker, it's not completely out of the question that he could play there in college, but he has the makings of a 1st round draft pick at the defensive tackle position. He has an amazing burst, and he tracks from sideline to sideline. He put up Tecmo Bowl numbers against his competition as a junior including rushing for over 1,200 yards and scoring 17 touchdowns in just six games. Much of that yardage came in the last three games of the season when he switched to running back from fullback.

He also made 173 tackles on defense and notes that he rarely played in the second half of games because his team was usually holding a big lead at intermission.

In the second round of the playoffs, Johnson had a day most players only dream about having. On 28 carries he rushed for 310 yards and two touchdowns, leading his team to the victory. He also added 17 tackles on defense.

Johnson will be on every school's list across the country, and he recently told Jason Caldwell of, "At this point there are probably too many schools," Johnson says. "It's not like I can pinpoint certain things about a school because I'm not sure yet. I like a lot of different schools. I have offers from Louisville, Kentucky and Maryland already. I have been hearing a lot from Notre Dame, Michigan, Florida State, USC, West Virginia, North Carolina and Wake Forest as well as some others including Auburn, Tennessee and Georgia."

This summer Johnson says he plans to showcase his abilities at as many camps as possible.

"My team goes to the UK camp," Johnson says. "I know it's a definite that I'll go there. Really I'm definitely going to go to another combine to see how much my times have improved. Then I'm not sure what camps I'll go to after that. I'll just have to see."

As stated, Johnson is one of those players one must see to believe, and even then, he'll leave you in dis-belief.
