Chappel is coached by former University of Kentucky and Chicago Bear standout Maurice Douglass. Douglass was well known for his tenacity and fierce, physical style of play. Chappel has inherited some of those same traits from his mentor.
Chappel burst onto the scene during a summer camp at Illinois his sophomore season and earned a verbal scholarship offer. He then followed that performance with an encore at the MSL Combine in Cincinnati, (Ohio.) in May. Chappel was hands down the best player at the combine. Several Trotwood-Madison prospects made the recent trip to San Antonio, (Texas.) for the U.S. Army All-American junior combine. Chappel once again showed superior speed and cover skills.
Several schools have been inquiring about Chappel including USC, Arizona State, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Illinois, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Purdue, and Tennessee.
Scouting Report: Chappel can back pedal as fast as any defensive back in the country, he has smooth and fluid hips. He reads well, and always has himself in position to make a big play. He is very aggressive and physical. He is not a large corner, but he will come up and stick you.
