Stating he's looking forward to concluding a "tedious" recruiting experience, Mississippi offensive lineman Jared McGowan says he's leaning toward Kentucky on the eve of national signing day.
McGowan (6-4, 300, 5.1) says he will choose between the Wildcats and Mississippi State after mulling over the decision tonight.
"I'm really looking forward to getting it over with," said the Horn Lake High School star. "Right now, it's Kentucky, but I need to make sure. I'm going to think about it more tonight.
"If it's Kentucky, I know that it's a great school even if something happened to me like an injury where I couldn't play football anymore. I was really impressed by their academics.... If it's Mississippi State, it's mainly because it's close to home and a good program."
McGowan said he was receiving a lot of negative comments about UK and the recent announcement of NCAA sanctions.
"People are throwing that in my face, saying I shouldn't go there because of the ban on a bowl game next year," he said. "But I don't think it's that big of a deal. It's only one game, and I'd have three more years to go to a bowl. It won't affect me much. There are other reasons I like Kentucky."
