One of the players still on Tubby Smith's recruiting radar will be playing in Louisville this weekend in the Adidas Derby Festival Basketball Classic.
6-9, 200 pound Uche Echefu from Montrose Christian High School in Rockville, Maryland, will play in the Classic, and he confirmed he will be making a visit to Kentucky on Sunday and Monday.
"UK has a good program, and they've got one of the best coaches in the whole world," Echefu said. "They've got a nice school."
Echefu wouldn't divulge his "short list", but he's got offers from many schools including Duke, Michigan, Florida State, and Virginia Tech. He said, "I'm just looking for a great school where I can improve my game, that has a great coach, and just graduate at a good school."
When asked to describe his game, Echefu said, "I just hustle, grab rebounds, and just anything to win. I hate losing. I'll do whatever the coach wants me to do."
"I think I need to work on my outside game a little bit more because of my height and quickness. I should be able to play outside and feel comfortable playing outside and shooting from outside."
He says he wants to make his college decision by the end of April or first of May.
The Derby Festival Classic is Saturday 7:00 at Freedom Hall.
