"We went to the Indiana spring game, and then we headed to Kentucky to take in a scrimmage," Wayne Cobb said. "They had a recruiting assistant take us around on a tour of the academic center, and all of the football facilities."
Monaca (Pa.) safety Ashton Cobb, 6-0 and 195 pounds, has seen his stock rise over the past few weeks. Cobb landed an offer from Akron, and the Hoosiers offered when Cobb visited them as well. Did the Wildcats offer?
"Coach Brooks called us aside, and we had a meeting with him," Wayne Cobb said. "He said he'd like to offer Ashton a scholarship to attend the University of Kentucky.
The Cobb's were very impressed with the Wildcats scrimmage and the job that former Pittsburgh Steelers assistant Mike Archer has done recruiting Ashton Cobb.
"Coach [Mike] Archer is very straight forward, and we liked that," Wayne Cobb said. "The scrimmage was very competitive; we're excited about the opportunity at Kentucky for defensive backs."
Wayne Cobb was very impressed by what's going on in Lexington.
"There was just a real warm and peaceful feeling down there."
While the Wildcats definitely helped their position in the recruitment of Ashton Cobb, the youngster is still compiling information on prospective colleges.
"We're just trying to sort through everything and get the information we want," Wayne Cobb said. "We have to see if schools meet our academic standards, what their values are, he's just doing his homework and we'll see how it all unfolds.

Cobb will be among many top young athletes who will compete at the Scout.com combine at the University of Akron, on May 28^th .
