The Wildcats got on the board in the top of the first. Brooke Marnitz drew a walk to lead off the inning and stole second. Meghan Cooper put runners at first and second with she drew a base on balls with two outs. Both would come around to score on senior Jessica Nance's double to right that went under the glove of UA's Rachel Lemaster and put the Cats on top 2-0.
The Lady'Backs slashed that lead to one in the home half of the frame as they plated a run on a sacrifice fly. Starter Samantha Allen allowed two hits in the inning, but left the bases loaded when she got Samantha Buckner to wave at strike three and end the UA scoring threat.
UA took the lead in the second when it scored seven times on four hits and three Kentucky errors to go on top 8-2.
The Lady'Backs added a two-spot in the fifth, including a bases loaded walk that pushed across the game-winning win for Arkansas who completed the weekend sweep of the Cats.
Three Kentucky pitchers worked the six-inning game. Allen was tagged with the loss after allowing three earned runs on three hits in 1.1 innings of work. The freshman hurler falls to 11-14 on the year with the loss.
The Wildcats had just four hits on the day, while Arkansas collected nine base knocks in the win.
The Cats return to action Wednesday, Apr. 27, when they travel to take on Louisville for their final road game of the season. The single game of the season is set to begin at 5 p.m.
