Kentucky welcomes a familiar first-round opponent in the unranked Bulldogs (15-2). UK met Butler in the opening round of an NCAA tennis regional last season, as the Cats dealt the Bulldogs a 4-0 defeat.

No. 18 Florida State (18-7) will take on No. 75 Ball State (20-8) in the first match of the regional on May 14. The winners of the two first-round matches will meet on Sunday, May 15 in the regional final. The times for each NCAA regional match will be announced by the end of the week.

Kentucky will host an NCAA regional for a fourth-consecutive season. UK emerged from the 2002 regional to make the NCAA Sweet 16, but the Cats fell to Ohio State and TCU in the 2003 and 2004 regional finals, respectively.

UK Coach Dennis Emery stands to face off against a protégé should the Cats and Seminoles meet in the regional final. Florida State head coach Dwayne Hultquist served as a graduate assistant under Emery at Kentucky during the 1991 season.
