UK Gymnastics Top-10 in National Attendance

On average the Kentucky gymnastics squad was cheered on by over 2,300 Wildcat fans in Memorial Coliseum during the 2005 season. The gymnastics attendance has remained steady during the last three seasons. In 2004 the Cats finished ninth in the national attendance poll and 10th in 2003. Kentucky's three year average home meet attendance is a solid 2,431.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky gymnastics program finished 10th in the nation for average home meet attendance during the 2005 season. This marks the third consecutive year the Cats have ranked in the top-10 nationally in home meet average attendance.

"The University of Kentucky athletics department is pleased with the increased support of Olympic sports at UK," UK Assistant AD of Marketing and Licensing Jason Schlafer said. "The top-10 national attendance average at Kentucky gymnastics meets is a reflection of UK's tremendous fan base and of the great feats of the gymnastics squad."

UK is one of six Southeastern Conference schools ranked in the top-10 for home meet average attendance in 2005. The University of Utah finished first in the nation in average attendance with a home meet draw of over 11,000 fans each meet.
