LICHTENFELS: 'Cats Offer Teammates

Apparently the Kentucky coaching staff pays attention to the springtime efforts of its prospective recruits. One particular prospect has been tearing up the combines and camps, finally his efforts have paid off as the Wildcats stepped forward and offered the "Keystone State" standout.

On Friday, Coach [Mike] Archer gave the word to Monroeville (Pa.) Gateway Head coach [Terry] Smith, that the Wildcats were offering scholarships to two of his players wide receiver/defensive back Aaron Smith (6-0, 185, 4.5) and defensive end Jordan Stevens (6-2, 227, 4.7).

The Wildcats were the first to offer Stevens, but they had company as Ohio and Towson State also offered him recently.

"I was so happy to get the offers, especially Kentucky," Stevens said. "It is my first big one, and it's an SEC school."

According to Stevens, a visit to the "Bluegrass State" could be on the horizon.

"Coach Smith is going to take us to Miami (OH.) next Monday, and we may possibly hit Kentucky while we're out there."

Stevens has already begun studying up on the Kentucky program.

"I haven't studied up on them a lot, but I was checking out the depth chart today," Stevens said. "I watched a lot of their games on T.V. last season."

As a junior, Stevens recorded 42 tackles, 4.5 sacks, and 2 fumble recoveries. He reports a 3.3 GPA, and has scored 1350 on the new SAT.
