GIDEL: Peach State FB Likes Cats

Clark Gaston (6'2, 227) of Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville (Ga.) is holding several big time scholarship offers. After a busy summer, the star athlete says one school stands out.

"I have offers from Kentucky, Navy, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Wake Forest and Middle Tennessee State," Gaston said. "I have high interest in Alabama, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech and Oklahoma."

"Georgia Tech told me they were going to offer this week."

Gaston is a relative newcomer to those associated with recruiting, but is considered among the better athletes in the Peach state this year. Last season he record 90+ tackles, which included 34 tackles for loss and 11 sacks.

Fullback, according to Gaston, is where the majority of his college attention has come from. "I'm very aggressive and I like getting to the football," Gaston said. "I'm hard to bring down on offense. I'd say I like playing fullback, that's what I wanna be labeled as now. I was going to be a defensive end, but now big schools are looking at me at fullback and that's where I'd like to play."

Last season, Gaston rushed for approximately 300 yards and eight touchdowns.

"I'd say South Carolina sticks out right now," Gaston said, "they told me I would start at fullback as a freshmen if I went there. I like that. I also like Coach Spurrier there a lot, he's very competitive and at camp, he came right up to me and was really humble. Really the humblest coach that I have met this summer. I'd say that's a big edge for them."

Gaston hopes to make a decision in the middle to late July. He's going to take visits to Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Kentucky and Wake Forest before making a decision.

"I like Kentucky," Gaston said. "They offered me before I went to the summer camps. I am hearing good things about them. I've heard they have a beautiful campus and I'm looking to make a trip up there to see for myself."
