LICHTENFELS: Cats land PA Prize

Kentucky missed out on a few of the "Keystone State's" top prospects last year, but Mike Archer has struck again. The Wildcats have landed a verbal from one of the top safeties in the Northeast.

Kentucky landed a prize from the "Keystone State" as Monaca (Pa.) Center Ashton Cobb (6-0, 195, 4.59) made a verbal pledge to the Cats, Cobb's father Wayne just gave us the news.

"He committed to Kentucky a few days ago," Wayne Cobb said. "He fell in love with it down there; Mike Archer did an outstanding job of recruiting him."

Cobb first team All-Midwestern Athletic Conference, Tribune-Review All-WPIAL Class A, and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette All-WPIAL Class A.

He had 92 carries for 600 yards, and six touchdowns. Cobb also had two receiving touchdowns.

Cobb chose the Wildcats over offers from Akron, Eastern Michigan, Indiana, Bowling Green, and Cincinnati.

Scout.com Report: Cobb is one of the most impressive juniors I have seen on tape. He is very physical, and has tremendous instincts. He is a tremendous athlete who plays RB/FB/WR/S/P, in Class A ball you have to get the most out of your star athletes and that is what Cobb is. He will most likely project as a safety at the next level.
