The Arizona Cardinals made Kentucky defensive end Dennis Johnson their fourth pick on Saturday in the third round of the NFL Draft.
Johnson, who left UK as an early entrant follwing his junior season, was the 98th pick overall and the ninth defensive end selected.
The 6-foot-5, 258-pound Johnson led the Southeastern Conference in sacks (12), tackles for loss (19) and forced fumbles (5) in 2001.
Meanwhile, Johnson's teammate, Derek Smith went undrafted. Smith was another early entrant as a junior, but saw his stock slip with a subpar 2001 season (30 receptions, 396 yards, 4 TD) and a disappointing showing at the combine.
There were 23 other tight ends selected in the seven-round draft. Smith expects to sign as a free agent.
