Kentucky may visit California forward

Sean Phaler, a sharp-shooting four man from Villa Park, is currently looking a number of schools from around the country. Several of those schools will be visiting his high school campus in the next couple weeks...

Sean Phaler, 6-9 JR PF Villa Park (Calif.) High, told us last night that he's in the process of having schools come to his high school campus for interviews and to watch him work out.

Last week, Rick Majerus and Steve Fisher visited with Phaler at Villa Park. We asked Phaler for his impressions of the two coaches. "The more I look at Utah , the more respect I have for Coach Majerus. H is one of the best coaches out there and if I went to Utah it would be because of him. And Coach Fisher is a real nice guy. Very nice to talk with and has a lot of stories to tell."

Phaler said that Oregon, Stanford, UCLA and Colorado St. are all scheduled to come in next week. Kentucky and Cal may visit with Phaler the following week.

When asked about his plans for visiting schools, Phaler said, "I'm going to be in Colorado during the spring with some friends, so I may take an unofficial trip to Colorado St. while I'm there. But I don't think I'll take any official visits until after the summer."

Phaler emphasized that coaching would play a prominent role in his decision. "I want someone I'll get along with, but also someone who is a very good coach," Phaler said. "I'd like to get some practice tapes if possible, so I can see how the coach works. The other issue will be how I fit in their system and who else they have at my position. I usually ask coaches about other guys they are recruiting at my position."

Phaler said he doesn't plan on making an early decision. "I don't think I'll commit anywhere until after the summer," Phaler said."I haven't really started to narrow my list at all. I'm still trying to learn about all the schools and I don't have any favorites at this point."
