In addition, two other player injuries may have impact on Saturday's game with Alabama. Forward Bobby Perry sprained an ankle and did not practice. His status for Saturday is unknown. Finally, guard-forward Joe Crawford missed practice due to tendonitis of the knee and is also questionable for Saturday.
Coach Tubby Smith also announced that the team will probably not hire a new strength coach until season is over. Tubby got just a bit irritated as he talked about his team's lack of physical toughness.
Smith indicated that he knows his team's recent play has been an "embarrassment" and that he added that the cats "are better than that."
The Kentucky coach says Rajon Rondo has to pass more to start Kentucky's fast break and that he needs better leadership on and off the court from senior Patrick Sparks. "For us to score 52 points in a game (against Vanderbilt) is just mind boggling," Smith said.
Center Shagari Alleyne may play more Saturday and Smith indicated he might go big with both Morris and Woo in the starting lineup.
Who is the team leader? "It's tough to say," Smith said.
"Woo has been one of our most efficient players," Smith said. Woo will block out and screen and stay active.
Smith again pleaded for Sparks to get to the foul line. "All year we have been harping on him to be more aggressive taking the ball to the basket and when he does, don't try to avoid getting fouled," Smith said.
