Profile 2003 - Andy Smith (OL)

In a season that seemed light on the true tackle prospects, the big men are slowly starting to emerge. One of the players adding depth to the talent pool is Starrs Mill (GA) offensive tackle Andy Smith. At 6-5 and 270 pounds with a 5.28 forty time, Smith has the frame and footwork that coaches love to have manning the tackle slots. Smith helped lead his team to a 9-3 record last year, and he's looking to build on that mark this year.

"I think we have about 10 starters coming back," said Smith. "I played right tackle last season, but I'll be moved to left tackle this year. I played some defense last season, but I play mostly offense."

Smith is planning on hitting two camps with his team this summer, and he lists several southern schools among his top 5. "I like Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, Georgia Tech, and Georgia Southern right now. They're all pretty much even."

True tackles will be a hot commodity this recruiting season, and Andy Smith is one of the best.
