The University of Kentucky football staff has received the first commitment of it's 2003 recrutiing class. Ryan Noblet of Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, IN confirmed to me tonight that he has in fact verbally committed to the Cats.
Noblet is a 6'6, 275lb offensive tackle who has been described as a very athletic lineman with great feet and excellent technique.
Check out what Ryan had to say about UK:
what he liked about UK: "the campus is awesome, the facilities are top notch, the people in Lexington are very nice, and the coaching staff is great"
why he chose UK: "Coach Morriss' NFL experience, and Coach Lancaster is awesome, he is the main reason I committed"
Noblet squats over 500 and benches close to 300 as of now. Several Big Ten schools were eyeing Ryan, but with UK probably only signing two offensive linemen this class, an early verbal is a wise choice. He also noted that UK is in with several other prep stars such as Andre Woodsen, Michael Bush, and Brodie Overstreet, and he hopes they follow his lead by signing with the Cats as well.
And where does this leave Boyle County's big man, Brodie Overstreet? Brodie tells me that UK is at the top of his list, he has followed them all his life, however, he will most likely weigh his options and wait until after the season to make his decision. Louisville, Wake Forest, West Virginia and host of other schools are looking at Brodie.
Look for video interview and highlights on Brodie this week, and lots more info and pictures on Ryan Noblet only at Big Blue Nation!!!!!!!
