With 24 newcomers already enrolled in school and having participated in summer workouts, University of Kentucky head coach Rich Brooks awaits word on who will be the last member of the class of 2006.
Of course, Coach Brooks could sit on the scholarship, as well.
What we do know is the following signees have not been officially recognized as apart of the football team as of yet: Moncell Allen, Demetrius Goode, Chris Drayton, LaMarckus Boswell, Ameer Salahudin, Chris Cessna and LaRay Foote.
Of the group, Cessna and Foote have already qualified and will more than likely have already agreed to grayshirt.
Recently committed 2006 recruit Preston Brown has officially agreed to enroll in January 2007.
One of the three may enroll should UK decide to use the scholarship upon hearing of the enrollment status of the others.
The latest coming out of Anderson (SC) T.L. Hanna HS is that Ameer Salahudin will most likely not be heading to Lexington this fall, as had been hoped.
Salahudin, who had been taking a correspondance class at the University of South Carolina in hopes of qualifying with the NCAA clearinghouse, has not officially gained word of his status, but his former high school coach, Scott Parker recently told the local papers in Anderson (SC), that his star player will most likely be heading to Hargrave Military Academy with hopes of enrolling in the spring semester.
That may be the same case for as many as three other Wildcats, as Greenville (SC) record breaking wide reciever Lamarckus Boswell recently told Chip Cosby of the Lexington Herald-Leader, that he is awaiting word on his latest ACT score, but should he not receive the score, would enroll at Hargrave with hopes of enrolling in the spring.
Demetrius Goode will allegedly join teammate Tyler Darden at Hargrave this fall, as well.
Goode, the highly-recruited running back from LaGrange (Ga.), is expected to honor his commitment to UK, but will more than likely not be able to enroll until next fall, meaning UK will have to hold off respective suitors until next year's signing day in February.
Chris Drayton has little to no shot, according to his coach and might have to go to junior-college.
Among those in and around the program, the belief is that the staff might be holding out for an official word on Boswell & Allen before deciding who to enroll. Should both not qualify, look for the staff to enroll LaRay Foote.
Or enroll no one at all, as the crapshoot continues. We shall see, soon enough.
